SAE National News | | SAE Institute Australia is excited to announce the formation of the Australian Alumni Association chapter, which is set to be launched later this year. In the spirit of the global Alumni Association, our new local wing aims to provide SAE Australia graduates with a valuable network of audio and film industry professionals.
SAE Australia recently played host to a series of seminars, with professional DJ/producer/sound engineer and Novation product specialist Adrian Pickard. Adrian’s clinics, which toured around SAE Australia campuses, demonstrated first hand how Novation controllers can be integrated into studio and performance set-ups, and SAE Adelaide streamed their workshop live via Soundpond. The Adelaide trio are currently enjoying much success with their remix of the Piper & Fernandez ft. Marvin Priest hit Rockstar which recently hit number three in the ARIA Club Chart. For the 5th year in a row, former SAE student Dave Parkin took out Best Record Producer / Engineer at the West Australian equivalent of the ARIAs, The WAMi’s, which also saw SAE graduate Stephanie Edwards win in the category of Best Management. Adam Grace, who has been lecturing audio at SAE Melbourne for the past 3 years, recently returned home from the States where he attended the Winter Music Conference (WMC) in Miami, an industry conference for electronic music that features seminars, panels, and events and club nights to showcase some of the biggest talents from around the world. Audio students were also given the chance to work at this year’s Blues Festival, assisting the audio engineers and helping stage crew with set-up.

SAE Spotlight | | Conor Roberts who graduated from the Bachelor of Audio Production at Byron Bay’s SAE in 2009 has since found himself well and truly immersed in the dynamic realm of live sound engineering.
After graduating, Conor found work sub-contracting as an engineer for both John Audio in Melbourne, and All Access Crewing based in Brisbane, and has gone on to work at a wide range of live shows for world-class acts such as Lady Gaga, AD/DC, The Prodigy, Empire of the Sun, Underworld and Paramore.
In between working the festival and live sound circuit, Conor finds the time to lecture a few audio classes at SAE Institute Brisbane, giving students valuable insight into what being a live sound engineer really entails.
