This part time short course over 6 months provides enhanced access to SAE's sought-after qualifications and practical skills-based education in a flexible, specialised package. The new delivery format and highly focused curriculum of the Electronic Music Program will appeal to those with a specific area of interest who also require a course that can fit around existing work or study commitments.

Students successfully completing the EMP qualification may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) credit towards other SAE programs.

What courses are available?

SAE Byron Bay’s Audio Faculty offers the Part-time Certificate III in Music Industry (Technical Production) also known as Electronic Music Production (EMP).

The EMP course is delivered on a Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6.30pm – 9pm over six months. EMP Students may also access studios (via the booking system) and computer labs 7 days a week from 9am – 9pm.

EMP course start dates

Electronic Music production commences bi-annually in April and October.

The following start dates apply for 2007/2008. 23/10/2007, 22/4/2008 and 14/10/2008.

  • $500 registration fee payable on enrolment
  • $200 resources fee payable one month before course commencement
  • $3,250 tuition fee payable one month before course commencement

EMP Course Content

This short course covers music production and sound manipulation using computer systems, MIDI and electronic instruments, hard disc recording, sampling, sequencing and synthesis. On conclusion of the program students will be able to set up and produce music from a home studio, demonstrate pre-production and electronic music production and perform as a DJ.

Students who successfully complete the Certificate III in Music Industry (Technical Production) and go on to enroll in the Bachelor of Digital may receive credit towards the Bachelor of Digital Media, saving time and money.

 

Accreditation Details

This program is recognised under the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) and accredited by the Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Board (VETAB) as: Certificate III in Music Industry (Technical Production), CUS30201.

This program is the equivalent of the SAE International "Electronic Music Producer" qualification.

SAE is a Registered Training Provider (RTO), National Provider Code: 0273.
