Who should take this course?

The EMP is intended for musicians and DJs who enjoy experimenting with technology as well as electronic music and audio hobbyists.  The program is open to anyone 16 years and above with no prior experience or personal equipment required.

You would benefit from this course if:

  • You make music and you would like to experiment with electronic sound or work more efficiently with your equipment.
  • You are into DJing and would like to remix music more effectively.
  • You want an edge on your existing production techniques.
  • You are passionate about electronic music!
  • You want an industry and government accredited qualification.

How is this course delivered?

The EMP is an innovative combination of lecture based training and practical studio tuition.

Lecture based training
Consists of interactive sessions based on comprehensive notes and visual demonstrations of theory and concepts.  Guest lecturers are invited to provide industry workshops.  Students are assessed on all topics covered at the end of the course.

In-studio training
Lecturers and established industry guests conduct studio demonstrations showcasing studio equipment and best practice production techniques. Students are tested individually on key studio processes before progressing to each stage in the course.

Studio access
Students gain access to SAE’s world class audio studios, production suites and computer workstations outside of class times under expert supervision. Students are actively encouraged to take advantage of studio access to maximise their learning.
